The Saiasi Foundation Diversity Statement

At the Saiasi Foundation, we believe in the strength that arises from embracing diversity in all its forms. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is fundamental to our mission of empowering young minds and entertain the older ones in rural underserved communities by offering specialized workshops, cultural projects and events that combine the realms of STEM and art. We recognize that a diverse and inclusive community fosters innovation, creativity, and collaboration, leading to greater impact in our work.

Our Principles:

Diversity: We celebrate and value the differences among individuals, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, socioeconomic status, and background. We believe that a diversity of perspectives enriches our organization and enhances the effectiveness of our programs.
Equity: We are dedicated to creating an equitable environment where everyone has access to opportunities and resources, and where barriers to success are identified and dismantled. We strive to address systemic inequities and promote fairness in all aspects of our work.
Inclusion: We actively cultivate an inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging for every member of our community. We are committed to creating spaces where diverse voices are heard, valued, and respected.

Our Actions:

Recruitment and Retention: We are dedicated to recruiting and retaining a diverse team of staff and volunteers. We recognize that diverse perspectives contribute to the creativity and innovation needed to address complex challenges.
Training and Education: We provide ongoing training and education to our team to enhance cultural competence, raise awareness of unconscious biases, and promote understanding and respect for different backgrounds and experiences.
Community Engagement: We actively engage with and listen to the communities we serve. Our programs and initiatives are designed to be inclusive, responsive, and reflective of the needs of a diverse range of individuals.
Accountability: We hold ourselves accountable for progress in achieving our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. We regularly assess our policies, practices, and programs to ensure they align with our commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive organization.
By embracing diversity and fostering inclusion, we believe we can better fulfill our mission and create positive, lasting change in the communities we serve.
The Saiasi Foundation is committed to continuously learning, evolving, and adapting our practices to build a more just and inclusive world.

Grievance Procedure:

The grievance procedure ensures all concerns are addressed promptly, fairly, and transparently. Participants are encouraged to voice their concerns regarding the program, instructors, or equipment to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
Step 1: Informal Resolution
Participants should first address the issue directly with the involved party, such as an instructor or program coordinator. Most concerns can be resolved through open communication.
Step 2: Submit a Formal Complaint
If the issue is unresolved, participants may submit a formal grievance in writing. The complaint should include: name and contact information of the participant. A detailed description of the issue. Any relevant dates or evidence. Formal complaints can be submitted via email or in person to the program director.
Step 3: Review and Investigation
The program director will acknowledge receipt of the grievance within three business days and begin an investigation. This process may include interviews with involved parties, a review of evidence, and consultation with other staff if necessary.
Step 4: Resolution
A written resolution will be provided to the complainant within ten business days of the grievance submission. The resolution will outline any corrective actions or changes to program procedures if applicable.
Step 5: Appeal Process
If the participant is dissatisfied with the resolution, they may appeal to the organization’s executive director or governing body. Appeals must be submitted in writing within five business days of receiving the initial resolution. A final decision will be communicated within ten business days of the appeal.

Confidentiality and Non-Retaliation

All grievances will be handled with confidentiality, and no participant will face retaliation for filing a complaint. This procedure ensures all concerns are managed professionally, fostering a respectful and supportive program environment.
